More than 50 educators, business leaders, apprentices and workforce development professionals gathered at Kent ISD on October 24 for a Race 2 Talent event hosted by West Michigan Works! in partnership with Registered Apprenticeship Michigan and the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO).
So far, 20 students from Kent Career Tech Center's Automotive Technology and Mechatronics programs have successfully taken part in the Michigan Apprenticeship Readiness Certificate program (MARC), including two who joined a panel discussion along with business and industry leaders from Fox Motors, Royal Technologies and Kent ISD about the experience. KCTC Auto Tech program alumni Arien Kamble noted, "The Michigan Apprenticeship Readiness Certificate gave me the confidence and skills to take the next step in my career. Being part of this event and seeing the support from employers and educators made me feel like I'm part of something bigger, a movement that's opening doors for those seeking opportunity."
Kent ISD is excited to share these experience with more students interested in making meaningful career connections.
