The five labs in the automotive department are supplied with the same equipment you would find in any modern repair facility. Students' will not have to lie on the floor while they are working on customer cars. We have 17 hoists/racks for lifting cars and trucks. We also have three flat bays for repairing cars that do not require lifting.

How would you like to have access to a large toolbox full of tools while performing a brake repair or an oil change? What if that toolbox was as large as a two car garage? It's true. Our toolroom is full of Snap-On hand tools such as ratchets/sockets, screwdrivers and wrenches. In addition to the common tools, we also have specialty tools such as scan tools and digital multi-meters. There are too many tools to mention so sign up for a program visit and ask to see the toolroom.

Our automotive classes operate just like the repair facility or dealership near your home. When a customer car comes in for service we need to have a repair order written. The repair order is written up in the parts/service department.

After students diagnose the car they need to make an estimate. The students use the on-site parts department and computerized parts catalog to do that. If the customer approves the repairs the students will get the parts from our parts/service department.

The automotive department has 29 vehicles that have been donated by the domestic and import car companies that are for student instruction only. It is the responsibility of the automotive department to keep the cars in running condition. The students will practice working on the school cars before working on the customer cars.
