High School Credit

Design Lab is a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) Career Exploration program for students in 10th grade. In order to allow students the ability to be on our campus for over 2 hours each day, some students may need to earn an additional credit.

Design Lab gives students who need it an option to take a math, science or career exploration online credit during Design Lab. As a result, students can earn credit in Design Lab as well as one credit of either math, science, or a career exploration elective.

Optional Core Math or Science Credits Available

Students may choose one (1) online class. Options include:

  • Math: Geometry, Algebra 2, Honors Geometry, or Honors Algebra 2
  • Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, Honors Physics

Students who do not need a math or science credit can take the elective "College & Career Preparation" which focuses on topics like college entrance exams, apprenticeships, paying for college, and career planning.

Most students will take an online course at some point in their educational career.  The advantage of having your first online course be part of Design Lab is that you will see your instructor each day.  You can ask questions in person and even go through examples together.  In addition, depending on your course, you will have several other classmates who you can also ask for help if you get stuck.

Due to the content of Design Lab, students who complete both semesters are eligible for 1.0 credits of English and Language Arts.
