Ferris State Donation to Support HVAC-R Program

A donation of eight Klein Tool bags from Ferris State's Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR) program was made to KCTC's HVACR program to support in-class operations and give students the tools they need to succeed. The pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, wire strippers, cutters, and other tools of the trade donated were worth nearly $1700. FSU HVACR Coordinator Doug Zentz says that “The focus this year has been on giving. Jeff Demeester and his students have been donating time on a service learning project with the Grand Rapids Habitat for Humanity program to install duct work on one of their homes. With eight more tool bags donated by our program, this may assist them in helping others.” According to KCTC HVAC Instructor Jeff Demeester, the downturn in the economy has created more demand for donations for everyone. "The win-win-win of donating tools and efforts has stimulated growing interest in HVACR education & the industry as a whole in recent years. There is so much that can be learned by all. We are not only training a competent work force, but we are also teaching about what it means to give. That’s cool!”
